Veloscope - Sports Photography Website

Project Brief

Veloscope is a sports media company that collaborates with various event organizers to take photographs of the event. They capture moments in action to provide picture coverage and video footage to their users. My task was to re-design their website for a better photo retrieval and viewing experience. The goal was to help athletes relive their memories of the sports event and be updated on the next upcoming events. It also had to attract sponsors and organizers to partner with Veloscope.

Research insights

The launch experience was designed to help users directly search for their Photographs using parameters like city, event and bib number. This page also intended to inform athletes about upcoming events and direct traffic to the organizer’s page through the ‘View Details’ button. This traffic would help Veloscope pitch for a deal as the photography partners of the event.

The photo searching experience was made engaging by letting the users play with the parameters and discover interesting pictures. A user could zoom into a location and see all the events at that place.

The users profile page and event page showcased all the shortlisted photos. The time stamp as well as location stamp on the photos was mapped to the journey of a user during the event. He could experience an event over time as well as relive his journey as an athlete.

A user could filter her photos to see how she did at the 5km mark or what her condition was at the finish line.

These photographs could be ordered at a nominal price or published to Facebook for a sponsorship.
